Overview

Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, off the east coast of Africa. Known as a “paradise for travelers,” it is famous for its stunning beaches, unique natural wonders like the Aldabra giant tortoises and the Coco de Mer palm, and a rich Creole culture.

Flight

Transportation

Getting around the islands is an adventure in itself.

  • Inter-Island Travel: The main islands (Mahé, Praslin, La Digue) are connected by Cat Cocos ferries (approx €60 one-way between Mahé and Praslin) and Air Seychelles domestic flights (15-20 minutes, approx €100-140) .
  • Local Buses: The SPTC bus network on Mahé and Praslin is very cheap (around SCR 7-20) and reliable for budget travelers, though they can be crowded and have limited luggage space.
  • Taxis & Cars: Taxis often use fixed fares rather than meters, so confirm the price before departure. Renting a car is convenient for exploring at your own pace, but be careful of narrow, winding roads with steep drop-offs

Famous for

Seychelles is famous for having some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, including Anse Lazio and Anse Source d’Argent. It is also known for its unique wildlife, specifically the Aldabra giant tortoises and the Coco de Mer, the largest seed in the plant kingdom, which grows naturally only in Seychelles. It has recently been voted the Indian Ocean’s Leading Honeymoon, Dive, and Cruise Destination for 2025.
